The Untapped Potential of Cogeneration in the Energy Transformation

Vratislav Ludvík, a veteran of the Czech gas industry, emphasized the importance of cogeneration for the energy transformation in the SZ Byznys studio. A network of remotely interconnected gas cogeneration units could serve as an optimal solution for heat supply. This solution offers high flexibility.

Among the first steps, he proposed replacing residential district heat transfer stations with cogeneration units and backing up green electricity with cogeneration.

According to Mr. Ludvík, cogeneration units and the associated decentralization of district heating could largely replace coal-fired power plants and contribute to a successful energy transformation.
