The Czech Energy Regulatory Office (ER\u00da) has announced its decision on the regulated components of electricity and gas prices for 2024. Although the regulated portion represents a minority share of the total energy price, it will be significantly higher next year than it is this year. For electricity, this means an increase of 65.7%, and for gas 38.8%. The main reasons include the energy crisis, the reintroduction of the renewable energy surcharge, and rising wholesale electricity prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For households and small businesses, this means an average additional cost of just under CZK 1,100 per MWh of electricity and about CZK 125 per MWh of gas. The impact on individual customers will vary depending on consumption and also on the unregulated component, i.e., the commodity price. The government is trying to mitigate the impact of rising energy prices through subsidies and price caps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
